So walk number two involved lots of mud! I set off up a steep hill through a farm in January 2014 from Culmstock in Devon. A lovely little village with the River Culm flowing through - I made contact with said river later in the day!
My first destination was the Culmstock Beacon, so with book in hand and map in rucksack (the mini one!), maybe it should have been the other way around as I missed the beacon! Took the right turn but after a few circles and heading off down a path by the pond, apparently the wrong pond - oops, so realised that map and compass may be a better way forward! Anyway, I met a nice farmer and her dogs and there were lovely views along the top of the hill towards Wellington Monument.
And then there was more mud!

Into the woods and more mud, along with some lovely old trees.......
Then into some fields and guess what?....
Yes!!! More mud!!
Maybe I should have worn wellies!!!
Not only that, in order to get to the "Bridge over the River Culm", I had to negotiate the overflow which covered the field leading up to the footbridge!

And finally, a bridge I didn't need to cross but see the debris on this bridge after flooding over the winter..
Felt accomplished after this walk as I had to negotiate some different terrains and lots of mud and wet areas. What an adventure!
Whatever next?
