Fantastic day for our first training session in the hills. On day one we looked at pacing and compass bearings and we had great fun practicing. It was hard to focus with the fantastic views!
I am annoyed that I can't remember where we went on day 2 but it was an amazing walk. We did a linear walk so one group were dropped off first and we crossed over half way - that was entertaining but we didn't stop to chat! Too much to do! As you can see from the pictures below, it was beautiful and we made the most of the scenery and weather!
A few of the other team took photos of a beautiful rainbow but I think I had my head down to avoid slipping in the rain! In the evening we did a night navigation session which was a bit wierd! The idea is to learn how to navigate in poor visibility, not because we are all planning on walling in the dark! I love taking photos so hope dark and bad viz walks are not a regular occurrence. Though ti could be fun I suppose!
And then there was day 3!
And then there was day 3!
We took it in turns to head for a point unknown to the group. It started off ok but then the fog and rain started, hence lack of photos! Here are the few.....
The other group met some walkers who were lost and not well equipped for the weather so they escorted them back to their car. It is so important to ensure you have the right clothes and spares to keep you warm as well as a first aid kit, enough food and an emergency foil blanket. You never know who you may meet in the hills and who may need help.
